ABOUT THE TOPIC

In almost every state in America it is perfectly fine to kill as many coyotes as you would like and in any way. They are classified as "varmints" varmint translates as a troublesome wild animal. A varmint is a pestering animal such as one that kills or harasses a farmer's livestock or crops whereas a "critter" is a creature that causes not harm.

The threat to Live stock

One of the main reasons that coyotes are killed is because they are considered a threat to livestock. Farmers claim that, "Coyotes can cause damage to a variety of resources, including livestock, poultry, and crops such as watermelons. They sometimes prey on pets and are a threat to public health and safety when they frequent airport runways and residential areas, and act as carriers of rabies. Usually, the primary concern regarding coyotes is predation on live- stock, mainly sheep and lambs" (Green). Coyotes cant help themselves their main reason like any other animal is to survive. The eat our food: Cows. We eat their food: Dear. However I don's see coyotes have competitions to see who can kill the most humans! Evidence shows that coyotes prey consists of smaller animals and occasionally a deer or two. Livestock is not even typically what they eat.

The Coyote Killing Contests

Coyote killing contests are not uncommon. Basically what they consist of is a large group of hunters spanning out for a certain period of time in a competition of who can kill the most coyotes or who can kill the largest. Many times there is prize money or a new rifle. Nobody thinks of how this affects the lives of coyotes. Just think about it. If someone kills a mother of a group of pups that are waiting for her to get home those pups will stave and be easy prey.

The Gruesome Reality

The harsh reality of coyote killing makes you want to cry. The amount of evil that takes place every day is dehumanizing. It makes me ashamed to live in a state were it is legal to kill unlimited numbers of coyotes for fun and personal enjoyment. So many innocent coyotes die each day for no reason what so ever. It is legal to shoot coyotes at anytime during the year. However in 2019 a bill was signed that you can not use the M-44 poisoning device in almost 10 million acres in Wyoming. The M-44 device is one that is filled with a gass that causes them to basically suffocate from the inside. Please help us continue to make a difference for these beautiful animals!
